I spent the weekend away with a good friend who is staying alone in a big house. She asked me to set up an email account for her so she can keep in touch with her children who are living far away. I could sense her delight when she sent her first email to me. She's a very fast learner, especially being a pensioner. She told me she knows of a friend who refused to learn to use the computer, what more the internet. At least I made one person happy today.
Most of us take the internet for granted, but do you ever wonder how many people out there are computer illiterate? I have a friend who doesn't know how to text messages using the handphone! When someone sends him an SMS he will call instead of replying the message. You might say that's ridiculous but that is the truth. I don't think he will ever venture to use email to get in touch with friends. Internet for me is an accessory that I can't do without. Have fruitful week ahead.
